A Message from Judge Jesse
Dear Fellow Texan:
Being appointed by Gov. Greg Abbott to the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals is a tremendous honor.
Throughout my childhood and into young adulthood, I had the opportunity to live in several parts of America, an opportunity that gifted me with the experience of living in a wide variety of places among diverse groups of people. That understanding of human nature has served me well as a prosecutor and a judge.
My parents instilled in me an immense and powerful respect for the Lord, the law and the role we all play in ensuring a fair justice system. Further, the spirit of public service runs throughout my family tree - from my grandfather, who worked as a custodian at an Alabama VA hospital, to my grandmother, who was a math teacher, to my sister, who served 22 years in the U.S. Navy. It is my honor to serve the great State of Texas.
I have now been a Texan for a quarter of a century. From the sports fields of my youth, to the classrooms of the University of Texas School of Law, and throughout my career, I have worked hard to make the most of each and every opportunity I was given.
My experiences have taken me from the private sector, to the front lines prosecuting crime in the Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office, to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, to Harris County, where I investigated and prosecuted fraud for the Texas Department of Insurance, to a seat as a state district judge.
I have had the opportunity to try every level of case from misdemeanors to the highest level of felony offenses, to represent both Texas and the United States, and to serve the public from the prosecutor’s table to the bench.
My duty in each and every case is to ensure the law is followed and justice is done in accordance with the Texas Constitution.
On the Court of Criminal Appeals, I have an opportunity to serve the great State of Texas and our justice system with the dedication, real-world experience, perspective on the law, and kind of work ethic that Texans deserve.
Best,
Judge Jesse
